New Mexico Lottery Launches New Technologies

ALBUQUERQUEThe New Mexico Lottery has successfully rolled out new technology systems, including retailer equipment, which now support operations statewide and modernize retail sales across more than 1,000 retailers. This represents a major advancement in how the Lottery serves players, assists retailers, and enhances the infrastructure that funds education and scholarships in New Mexico.

The new technologies support the sale of all lottery products through a modern, integrated platform and provide better tools to help retailers serve players more efficiently. This new business platform will equip retailers with the tools and equipment needed to deliver a better customer experience, thereby increasing sales and profitability. The system combines cutting-edge equipment with advanced analytical software to boost retailer sales.

New Mexico Lottery CEO David Barden said, “This is an important milestone for the New Mexico Lottery. We’ve taken a thoughtful and measured approach to this complex technology transition, and we’re pleased with how the system is performing. Our retailers have responded positively to the upgrade to their new in-store technology. Most importantly, this positions us to continue growing scholarship funding for New Mexico students.”

The Lottery started the procurement process in 2023 and spent months working closely with its partners and retailers across the state to ensure a smooth rollout. The lottery gaming technologies and related services partner was selected after a two-year competitive process that evaluated both technical capabilities and long-term economic value. The Lottery reviewed written technical proposals and pricing to confirm the partner could support its goal of maximizing revenue for the Legislative Scholarship Program and deliver dependable performance for retailers and players. The system is being delivered in partnership with Scientific Games, a leading global provider of lottery games, technologies, analytics, and services since 1973.

In addition to a new central gaming system, the Lottery has implemented enhanced retail and game management support aimed at optimizing game performance, improving overall efficiency, and enhancing inventory management, as well as better support for its retailers statewide by adding dedicated sales and service representatives for their stores.

Retail technology upgrades, including new lottery vending machines and updated clerk-operated terminals, will continue to expand across the state, giving players more convenient ways to purchase tickets and helping retailers serve customers more efficiently.

“With this new system in place, we are focused on building for the future,” Barden said. “Our goal is simple: support our retailers, serve our players and generate as much funding as possible for New Mexico students.”
