Powerball Debuts New Monday Drawing

8/20/21

ALBUQUERQUEMondays are about to get better for POWERBALL® players! Beginning Monday, August 23, Powerball will be drawn three nights a week. A new Monday drawing will join the weekly lineup of Powerball drawings currently held on Wednesday and Saturday.

The Powerball Product Group anticipates adding the Monday Powerball drawing will result in larger, faster-growing jackpots. The group also expects to see an increase in the number of cash prizes and jackpots awarded on an annual basis. The first Monday drawing will be held on August 23, 2021 at 8:59 p.m. MT.

Adding a third drawing will not change the Powerball game odds or set cash prizes.  Players will continue to choose five numbers from 1 to 69 and one Powerball number from 1 to 26. The Power Play® add-on feature will also be available for an additional $1 per play to multiply non-jackpot prizes.

Also beginning August 23, New Mexico Lottery players can enter the Powerball First Millionaire of the Year® Promotion by purchasing at least $6 in Powerball on a single ticket to receive an entry coupon. To promote the new Monday draws, players receive double entry coupons for eligible New Mexico Lottery Powerball purchases made on Mondays. The entry page, promotion dates, and more information are available at nmlottery.com.

About Powerball: Powerball tickets are $2 per play. Tickets are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. More than half of all proceeds from the sale of a Powerball ticket remain in the jurisdiction where the ticket was sold. Drawings are broadcast live from the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee. Players can watch the new Monday Powerball drawings online at Powerball.com with a new live stream feature that launched earlier this summer.
