Since launching on April 27, 1996, New Mexico Lottery players have bought approximately $3.28 billion in tickets with prizes of more than $1.79 billion. Since inception, New Mexico Lottery sales resulted in many positive economic impacts, among which were:
- 60 prizes of $1 million or more — including five Powerball® jackpots totaling $527.5 million;
- More than $219.5 million in retail commissions;
- More than $30 million in state taxes from prize winnings; and
- 134,584 Legislative Lottery Scholarship recipients.
“We’re proud of our many accomplishments, but today we must also thank the many people who play our lottery games for educating our first 134,000 Legislative Scholarship Recipients. Without our players, the Lottery’s success would not have been possible. Our goal now is to provide funding for the next 100,000 scholarships and to do this, the Lottery must to continue to provide players with fun and exciting games.” said David Barden, New Mexico Lottery Chief Executive Officer.
To celebrate this milestone, the Lottery will hold special player and retailer promotions throughout the year. The first promotion begins May 2nd with “Lotto America $1,000 Giveaway.” Players who purchase $5 in Lotto America on one ticket will receive a coupon with a serial number they can enter at nmlottery.com. Weekly drawings will be held for a total of 25 $1,000 winners during the promotion. You must be at least 18 years of age to purchase, play or redeem Lottery tickets. Please remember to play safely and responsibly.
