Bring on the Giant Checks! $2 Million and $1 Million Winning Powerball Tickets Sold in New Mexico

08/24/2017

ALBUQUERQUE – The New Mexico Lottery team is busy printing gigantic checks today in preparation for last night’s lucky ticket holders. Although the $758.7 million jackpot was not won in New Mexico, five New Mexico Powerball ticket holders are waking up to some good news.

New Mexico Lottery CEO, David Barden, said, “We are very excited to announce that last night’s Powerball draw generated one $2 million, one $1 million, one $200 thousand and two $50 thousand dollar winning tickets in New Mexico.”

Powerplay was purchased by two of the players for an additional dollar, resulting in the $2 million and $200 thousand prizes.

Check your tickets. The winning numbers for the Powerball August 23, 2017 draw were: 6, 7, 16, 23, 26 and a Powerball of 4.

Earlier this week, Leonard Bulmer of Albuquerque claimed a $1 million prize from the August 18th Mega Millions® draw. That adds up to three new millionaires in New Mexico in less than one week!

Since Sunday, Powerball sales in New Mexico were just over $2.7 million for last night’s draw. David Barden said, “This is great news for students and the scholarship fund. As I have always said — when players win, students win.”

All drawing game prizes must be claimed within 90 days from the date of the drawing or the first business day after the 90th day if the Lottery is not open for business.
