ALBUQUERQUE – An avid outdoorsman is sporting a shiny red 2014 Ford* F-150 truck that he won playing the New Mexico Lottery’s “Trucks & Bucks®Scratcher™.

David Duran of Las Cruces won the second of three truck prizes offered in the $3 game. The prize, which includes taxes and title, is valued at $52,100. The first truck prize was won in February by Albuquerque resident Sergio Gutierrez.

Duran said that since first learning to drive, he’s always had a truck.

“I have to have my truck,” he said. “I go camping and fishing a lot so I need a truck.”

Duran discovered his good fortune Friday evening after his wife brought home three Scratcher games.

“We kept looking at it,” Duran said. “We couldn’t believe it.”

Maggie Duran purchased her husband’s lucky ticket at Circle K located at 617 W. Picacho Ave. in Las Cruces. The store has sold 15 other large prize-winning tickets paying between $1,000 and $30,000.

This is the Durans’ second lottery-winning experience. The couple has two grandsons who earned college degrees after receiving Legislative Lottery Scholarships to study at New Mexico State University.
