ALBUQUERQUE – Glenn Farnsworth of Albuquerque claimed a $1 million Powerball® prize from the New Mexico Lottery Tuesday.

Beating odds of 1 in 5.2 million, Farnsworth’s quick-pick ticket for Saturday’s drawing matched the while ball numbers of 2, 19, 22, 26 and 45. He missed the red Powerball of 24 for the night’s jackpot of $208 million.

Farnsworth, who said he had no idea a $1 million prize had been won in Saturday’s drawing, discovered his good fortune Sunday morning when he stopped at a convenience store to buy a beverage and check his ticket for prizes.

“The clerk said she couldn’t cash it, that I would have to claim it at the lottery,” Farnsworth recalled for lottery officials in Albuquerque.

Realizing that Farnsworth didn’t understand his ticket was worth $1 million, the clerk printed a short report that showed the winning numbers and all the prizes won in New Mexico in Saturday’s drawing. The newly minted millionaire left without his beverage and drove straight home to his wife, Connie.

“I was shaking,” Farnsworth said.

“He could barely function,” Connie Farnsworth added.

Farnsworth said he spent the rest of the weekend “not getting much sleep.”

The Farnsworths said they had no firm plans for how they might spend the $1 million prize, but they were considering buying their first home together.

Farnsworth purchased his lucky ticket at Phillips 66/Circle K No. 6118 located at 900 Juan Tabo Blvd. NE in Albuquerque. For selling the $1 million-winning ticket, the store is eligible for a $2,500 New Mexico Lottery bonus.
