New Mexico Lottery to Honor Belen Store For Selling $1 Million-Winning Mega Millions® Ticket

ALBUQUERQUE – The New Mexico Lottery will honor Young Baca’s Kicks 66 store in Belen Friday for selling a $1 million-winning Mega Millions ticket to Veguita resident Danny Garcia in June.

Friday’s in-store event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. New Mexico Lottery CEO Tom Romero will designate the store as a “Lucky Landmark” at 11:30 a.m.

Valencia County residents are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served. The store is located at 1304 S. Main St. in Belen.

Since 1996, New Mexico Lottery players have won more than $1.03 billion in prizes. Garcia became the 39th player to become a millionaire playing New Mexico Lottery games and the year’s fifth lottery winner of $1 million.

Legislative Lottery Scholarships

The sale of New Mexico Lottery games funds a college tuition-assistance program. Since its inception in April 1996, the lottery has raised $525.8 million for education and more than 75,300 students have attended college on Legislative Lottery Scholarships.

As of the Spring 2011 semester, more than 3,200 students from Valencia County have received $14.5 million in Legislative Lottery Scholarships.
