New Mexico Lottery to Honor Farmington Store For Selling $1 Million-Winning Powerball® Ticket

ALBUQUERQUE – The New Mexico Lottery will honor the 7-2-11 Store No. 42 in Farmington Thursday for selling a $1 million-winning Powerball ticket to Blanco residents Larry and Cynthia Martinez in January.

Thursday’s in-store event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. At noon, New Mexico Lottery CEO Tom Romero will designate the store as a “Lucky Landmark.”

San Juan County residents are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served. The store is located at 5697 US Highway 64.

Since 1996, New Mexico Lottery players have won more than $1.3 billion in prizes. The Martinez couple is among 34 players to become millionaires playing New Mexico Lottery games.

Legislative Lottery Scholarships

The sale of New Mexico Lottery games funds a college tuition-assistance program. Since its inception in April 1996, the lottery has raised $509.6 million for education and more than 75,300 students have attended college on Legislative Lottery Scholarships.

As of the Spring 2011 semester, more than 3,860 students from San Juan County have received $13.4 million in Legislative Lottery Scholarships.
