Lottery
Televised Drawings Moving To KOB-TV And Affiliated Stations
Powerball Drawings to Air Again...
ALBUQUERQUE - Nightly drawing
results of New Mexico Lottery games are moving to new television
stations. With the start of the Lottery’s fiscal year tomorrow (July 1),
drawings will air on KOB-TV (Channel 4), New Mexico’s primary NBC
television affiliate. Albuquerque-based KOB also operates stations KOBR
(Channel 8) in Roswell and KOBF (Channel 12) in Farmington, with
additional coverage available on numerous local translators and cable
systems in New Mexico, southern Colorado, and eastern Arizona, along
with KOB’s digital channels. KOB and its affiliated stations are owned
by Hubbard Broadcasting.
KOB, KOBF and KOBR
will broadcast the nightly drawing results of New Mexico’s in-state
games, Roadrunner Cash, 4 This Way! and Pick 3. Results
will air at approximately 10:20 pm Mondays through Saturdays. The
agreement includes the broadcast of Powerball drawings, the
multi-million dollar multi-state lotto game in which New Mexico has
participated since October 1996. Powerball drawings air at 8:59
pm Wednesday and Saturday evenings.
“We anticipate a
smooth transition for the viewing public,” said Lottery CEO Tom Shaheen.
“We’re looking forward to a new partnership that will also include
expanded public affairs programming about the Lottery Success
Scholarship.”
“We are very excited
to become the official Lottery television station Friday, July 1,” said
Susan Connor, Station Manager at KOB-TV. “This is a true partnership,
and together we are bringing New Mexico the Powerball Drawings ‘LIVE’
again starting Saturday at 8:59 pm.”
The contract is for
three years, with up to three one-year extensions. As part of the
agreement, KOB will receive 54 percent of the Lottery’s television
advertising buy. Earlier this year, 11 New Mexico television stations
and cable systems were invited to bid on the Lottery’s new drawing
contract. New Mexico’s three major network affiliates all responded.
KRQE, Albuquerque’s CBS affiliate and its co-owned stations, KBIM/Roswell
and KREZ/Durango-Farmington, have broadcast in-state drawing results
since late 2000.
All publications,
stations and news services that currently receive New Mexico Lottery
drawing results will continue to get them without any interruption. |
