Time is running out for a New Mexico Lottery player who holds a winning Powerball ticket worth $200,000. The winning ticket is from the Aug. 15 drawing and the claim period will expire on Nov. 13 at 4:30 p.m.
A lottery retailer in Farmington sold the winning ticket. It is not known if the ticket holder lives in Farmington, elsewhere in New Mexico or another state.
The five numbers on the winning ticket are 19, 22, 24, 38 and 51. The ticket missed the red Powerball number of 9, which would have won the Aug. 15 Powerball jackpot of $183.7 million.
To claim the $200,000 prize, the player must present the winning ticket in person at lottery headquarters in Albuquerque. Lottery officials said the winning ticket should be signed immediately since it is a bearer instrument.
The Farmington retailer that sold the winning ticket is eligible for a $2,500 bonus. For security purposes, the New Mexico Lottery does not identify retailers that sell winning tickets until players present their tickets, the claims are verified and the prizes are awarded.
All prizes for lotto-style games must be claimed within 90 calendar days of the draw date. Unclaimed prizes are returned to the prize pool for future New Mexico Lottery games.
Legislative Lottery Scholarships
Net revenues from the sale of all New Mexico Lottery games benefit the Legislative Lottery Scholarship program, which provides in-state tuition assistance for New Mexico residents attending public colleges and universities.
Since its inception in 1996, the lottery has raised more than $331 million for college tuition and school construction and repairs in New Mexico. In the last decade, more than 48,000 students have received Legislative Lottery Scholarships and approximately 18,000 of those students have graduated from college.
