The New Mexico Lottery has sold the only
winning Hot Lotto jackpot ticket for tonight’s drawing.
The winning numbers drawn were 5, 11, 14, 17, 20 and the Hot Ball was 2.
The prize carries a
pre-tax estimated annuitized jackpot of $5.6 million and a pre-tax cash value of
approximately $3.5 million. The winner can declare a cash or annuity option
at the time the claim is filed. The lottery recommends to lottery winners
that they:
- Sign the winning ticket immediately since it is a bearer instrument.
- Meet with an attorney and/or financial advisor before coming to lottery headquarters
to claim the prize.
- Call the lottery security division to provide basic identifying information about
the ticket and its purchase, and make an appointment to claim the prize at lottery
headquarters in Albuquerque, or present the winning ticket.
The New Mexico Lottery also sold a $10,000 prize-winning ticket from tonight’s drawing.
Edward Boyd of Farmington won the New Mexico Lottery’s first Hot Lotto jackpot on
Aug. 4, 2007. Boyd and a player in Minnesota shared the estimated $2 million
annuity jackpot equally.
Hot Lotto was launched in New Mexico in November 2006. Nicknamed “Little Powerball,”
the game is played in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota,
Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and West
Virginia. The odds of winning the Hot Lotto jackpot are one in nearly 11 million.
Overall odds of winning any prize playing Hot Lotto are 1 in 16. Hot Lotto
jackpots begin at $1 million and increase by a minimum of $50,000 per drawing until
someone wins.
Since its inception in 1996, the New Mexico Lottery has raised nearly $340 million
for public education and more than 48,000 students have attended college on Legislative
