Is
it true that the scholarship fund is running out of
money? |

Since it's
inception, the Lottery has generated more than $351.9 million
earmarked for education. But two things have
happened. First and foremost, the scholarship program
has been so successful that many more people than
originally expected have used it. Second, the costs of
higher education have increased faster than projected,
including several double-digit tuition increases at
universities.
Even though the Lottery has returned hundreds of
millions in revenue to the State, the demand has outpaced the growth. |
